You know what would be cool…

If we could use our mobile phones as wireless hotspots.  Most smartphones already support tethering (the iPhone being the notable exception) and WiFi, so this should be possible.  This would nicely solve the problem of requiring a separate data line for every device.  Imagine being able to get in your car, have it's entertainment system automatically connect to your phones wireless hotspot, and start streaming Pandora radio?

I wonder if this would be possible.  Certainly the iPhone wouldn't allow it, but perhaps Android or WebOS?  Android, at least, uses a linux core and I know linux supports sharing a network connection.  That would make a great app for Android, or hell, if Google built it into the OS and partnered with a few consumer products companies, it would make a killer product.
